When we set out to tweak the design of Consumer Reports (you have the results in your hands), our editors, designers, and market-research team traveled the country to meet with subscribers. You might think hours of talk about Ratings tables, graphics, and fonts would be tedious. Not so, when you readers are involved, and we wanted—no, needed!—your valuable input.

You told us to keep the same high quality and quantity of information and not sacrifice it to style. So you’ll find the probing reporting and rigorous product testing you expect from Consumer Reports. At the same time, we’ve made changes to give you more information in ways that are easier to use:

Updated Ratings
CR Best Buys and Recommended models are easier to spot. And our auto Ratings now include a single level of recommendation, rather than the two levels we had. It directs you to models that score highly on our test track, have proven reliable in our reader surveys, and performed well if included in safety tests.

More testing
Our new Lab Tests section will provide frequent updates on televisions, cameras, appliances, and other hot products.

New features
Ask Our Experts is a Q&A featuring your burning questions, and 5-Minute Consult is a column from our medical experts. The Cars pages will offer more information on aftermarket products, reader surveys, and more. And you’ll be seeing more photos of our testers in action.

We’re grateful to the readers who helped us shape our new look. What do you think? Please tell us by going to www.ConsumerReports.org/redesign.
