Senior Director, Strategic Planning & Information Services Consumer Union, publisher of Consumer Reports
Elena Falcone is the Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Information Services for Consumers Union (CU), an expert, independent,
nonprofit organization whose mission is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers. As Senior Director,
Ms. Falcone leads the ongoing work of strategic planning and oversees the management of CU’s information services that provides
research and analysis for content and business decisions.
She has spearheaded a number of forward looking initiatives to support CU’s ability to anticipate and effectively serve consumer
needs. These initiatives have included an ongoing program of innovation and competitive analysis, as well as several research
and outreach initiatives to create consumer education content and make it broadly available to low income and low literacy
consumers.
As part of her leadership in managing the information assets of the organization, Ms. Falcone has built a dynamic research
department that analyzes consumer, competitive, and market trends; keeps staff informed of new developments in the areas in
which CU operates; provides research to support business decision making, content creation, test development, and policy actions;
and manages and makes accessible the diverse information that CU needs to do its work.
She received her B.A. from New York University, Washington Square College of Arts and Sciences and her Master of Library and
Information Science from Queens College. She began her career as a Librarian at the Brooklyn Public Library and moved on to
research and management positions at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, PepsiCo, and Phillip Morris.
