Evon Beckford is Senior Director for Electronics and has worked in the department for 32 years. He assumed full leadership of the group about ten years ago. Under his leadership there has been extensive growth in the volume, speed and sophistication of the testing of electronics products at Consumer Reports, while enhancing the quality of work.

Mr. Beckford continues to be a pioneer in developing new testing approaches to respond to Web demands. He played a major role in working with ICRT (International Consumer Research & Testing) and other external labs to expand testing options. Under Mr. Beckford's leadership the Electronics group continues to be at the vanguard of technological change.

Mr. Beckford has served on several organization-wide committees at Consumers Union. He was a charter member of CU's first formal strategic planning committee and was instrumental in the establishment of diversity training for the entire staff.
