Water removal measures pints per day removed under 80º F and 60 percent relative humidity as well as 70º F and 70 percent relative humidity. Models closest to claimed removal scored higher.

Humidistat accuracy:

Comment:
Worked fine for almost 1 1/2 yrs. Would turn on for about 2 minutes, then turn off and wouldn't start. Called Danby & many of the authorized dealers on the Danby site when I called weren't authorized anymore. Travelled 40 minutes to get an apparently loose wire fixed. Took 3 weeks. Brought it home & same problem. We'll call Danby again to see if they'll replace the unit.

CR does not let us go back and edit or update reviews (like other sites too) so, my original review is shown as Mike from Baltimore with the most positive number of helpful review likes.
That review is still valid, however, my unit has failed. I cannot get it to Fahrenheit for temp readings. It also appears that the auto humidistat has failed. I think the electronics in the control panel are bad.
I am waiting for a more humid day to confirm but, it seems like it does not come on, even when set to its lowest humidity setting.
I will almost certainly be returning it.

Comment:
I bought the Danby to use in our basement during the spring and summer months as a replacement for an old Kenmore.

This is truly more energy efficient than my old one (the Energy Star rating is a testament to that). The dehumidifier really removed the humidity fast and effectively.

Unfortunately on my third year of using it, the dehumidifier only gets the humidity level to 48-50% humidity then makes a clicking sound and remains there.

Since my previous dehumidifier had lasted for over ten years, the short-lived effectiveness of the Danby was very disappointing.
