Don't waste youR time buying (and then returning this unit) as I did. What was/is CR thinking - reccomending Dyson as their #2 choice? Someone at CR was out to lunch. <br />My central heater went out, I borrowed a friend's Lasko heater till the repair was made. It worked amazingly well - EFFECTIVE. I liked having a space heater so I read CR reviews and bought the Dyson model. It was COMPLETLY INEFFECTIVE. I returned it and bought the lowly rated Lasko and have been warm as toast since. <br />Have to admit, I'm left scratching my head why CR wrote it up as their #2 pick in the ceramic category. Thanks for wasting my time CR!!

I admit I bought the heater because of the design, wincing at the high price. After a few months of use, I still enjoy the design and have found it to be an efficient heater (which can double as a fan) and a conversation starter when folks come over and see it in use.<br />The CR review noted it is louder than most heaters but I have not found the noise disturbing.<br />It has also proved relatively durable having been aggressively handled by a three-year-old and dropped twice.
