Not so good
By jerryf from Boone, North Carolina on 12/4/2009
Pros:
Big, Heavy Glass
Cons:
Base leaks, Cheap, Difficult to unscrew, Limited Power
Best Uses:
Limited use situations
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The problem here is that it leaks and when you screw it tighter to attempt to stop the leak it becomes impossible to unscrew to clean. It is pretty weak, and all the buttons are stupid. ON, OFF and two speeds would be plenty and easier to clean... cleaning between buttons is not possible.

Weak motor burned out, melted
By The quality deal seekers from Ottawa, Canada on 6/28/2009
Pros:
Glass jar
Cons:
Burned out, Motor weak, Not durable, Plastic melted, Poor at crushing ice
Best Uses:
Not at all
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We were skeptical because this was a B&D product and I have had bad experiences with the tools that this company makes. In the end, though, we bought it because it had a strong glass jar (this was at a time when glass jars were still fairly rare and we were concerned about bisphenol A as well as other leaching chemicals from plastics).
We were immediately disappointed because the motor was weak, couldn't handle smoothies or ice, and it became clear the unit wouldn't last.
Invariably, today the motor stopped with a smashing sound, the rotors broke and melted and a horrible smell came out of the housing.
Glass jars are much more common now and, thankfully, we don't have to buy B&D again.
