Comment:
Used the blender primarily for making smoothies. It worked great for it. After about a dozen or so uses, I started to smell burnt rubber. Next thing I know, it's smoking and dead. Durability is definitely not it's strong point. Definitely something to avoid.

Comment:
I can't believe how off-base Consumer Reports is on this item. After purchasing and finding the build quality and design to be horrible, I checked out [@]to see what reviews were there - every review was a one star! I've never seen an item so universally disliked.I can see why, the base design is defective and dangerous. CR, shame on you, this is an awful product.

[$]. Came home and made Pina Coladas with embarassing ease and great results. Old Osterizer struggled for a full minute using purchased bagged ice, and had to stop a few times to stir contents by hand to get full blending. This blender used full-size ice cubes and quitely took care of business in about 15 seconds. I stopped to stir and found it was throughly mixed with no ice chunks. We'll have to see how durable it is but so far so great.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
