Poor Blender

Pros
Powerful
Cons
Blade Freezes Strips
Best Uses
Small Kitchen
Comment:
I bought this blender because of the power that it seemed to have. I really liked it the first time I used it and ended up buying 4 of these blenders for different family members. Unfortunately the blades started freezing up after just a few uses and cuisinart replaced one and refused to replace any more even though I had purchased several of these at [$] each. Some of these blades don't even last two uses before they freeze up. I replaced the blades 3 or more times.

Cuisinart CBT-500 Blender Looks Great, Works Just Okay
01/24/2007
Strength
Looks great and a powerful motor.
Weakness
Poor impeller design seizes up and breaks.
I would not recommend this blender to anyone who actually wants to use it. If all you want is looks, however, you should be satisfied. The original impeller drive, which is hard rubber, shedded itself in normal, not heavy duty, use. A replacement blade cost $20 to $25. The second impeller/blade has now seized up after only a few months of use. I am looking for a replacement blender, I got rid of a 10 year old Osterizer when I bought this one, that was a mistake.

Cuisinart CBT500 Smart Power Premier 50 oz Capacity 600 Watt Blender
12/31/2006
Strength
Very powerful, thick glass cup, looks expensive...
Weakness
Expensive...
The reason my wife bought this Cuisinart CBT500 Smart Power Premier 50 oz Capacity 600 Watt Blender because our dish washer meltted the plastic blender we had for six years. The new blender looks really elegant and quality; however, the handle feels like a cheap plastic. Besides that, the blending power is really amazing regardless the price we paid. To sum up, it's the best blender I ever had.

I have yet to see a blender do everything perfectly. This blender isn't likely to go very far on your counter; maybe not because you'll use it all the time, but because it's a pain to lift. Good if you have dedicated bar space, but you'd like to be able to use it for regular kitchen work too. I don't really use a blender for chopping, the knife and kitchen robot are better for me, but for liquids it's the way to go. Questionable features are the digital timer and flashing lights, I don't know about Cuisinart's forays into electronics. I would expect those things to fail before the motor. And why a glass jar with a durable plastic handle, huh? As if they were trying to save weight on this one. It's some unnecessary cost-cutting that lowers the robustness a bit and makes cleaning a little trickier.Separate ice crushing button and being able to add things through the top are both helpful features, and the warranty is excellent, they will usually stand by their products.
