Comment:
I make smoothies and milkshakes every day and my previous blender konked out on me. After doing a LOT of research to find a high-quality yet reasonably priced blender (read: not an expensive, over-the-top professional blender) I decided on this one. Seven months later is is still going strong. It crushes ice with ease and blends easily. I have recommended it to several friends who, after buying it, are also thrilled with its performance.

Comment:
I have used this blender everyday for a smoothie brunch (lots of ice) for over a year now without a single problem.
There must be a serious difference between units being shipped out if other reviews are to be believed.
I happened upon this one by accident needing a cheap one to tide me over until I purchased another expensive model. However, this one out performs my last $150 Cuisinart hands down. And with the price under $40, I can toss this one out and purchase another (if it ever does go bad) and still be ahead in the blending game.

Comment:
I used this, almost exclusively, for making smoothies 2-3 times per week, usually with frozen fruit. It did a very satisfactory job for a year, generally blending frozen fruit in about 20 seconds (sometimes one needed to stop and give it a mix). It was loud (my 5-year old would run out of the kitchen) and vibrated such that you needed to keep your hands on it. However, at about 11 months a very large frozen strawberry was too much for it, and the hard rubber-like piece that holds the blades to the motor spindle basically ripped in half. Ultimately, you get what you pay for.
