I bought the Waring after my Krups kicked the bucket after only 6 months of making pureed baby food. So needless to say, I made sure that I did my research for my next blender and didn't want to be left high and dry without one. The Waring was surely powerful enough to puree anything you threw at it, but at the cost of your hearing. My poor kids had to cover their ears and I made them leave the kitchen when I was making them smoothies! It only has an OFF/ON switch which leaves you NO CONTROL! The motor blew in about 1 year of making smoothies and soups. Very distraught again! Is there anyone out there that makes a quality product nowadays????

Comment:
This is a fantastic machine. My wife and I are very pleased with it's functality. We use this blender primarily for mixing smooties and protien drinks. My wife has used it occasionally for blending sauses and marinaids. I like to create a variety of salsas with it. I have tried using it in place of a food processor as well as for making margaritas, neither of which produced the desired outcome. The food came out of the blender with the consistancy of baby food and the margaritas had to be poured over ice. I think if I did the margaritas again i would not blend them for as long and on the lower setting. As for the food processing I can only say one thing, it's a blender not a processor, my mistake. This product is a tank! One day my children will have to fight over who gets it once they plant me in the ground. There may be better blenders out there but I have yet to use or see it. However, I only give it 4 stars because of the lack of variation in speed control it offers.

Strength
Powerful, Simple to use. Easy to clean.
Weakness
A bit noisy. Some overflow when mixing watery drinks.
This blender is pretty close to be the commercial-grade. It can chop ice easily. I use it for fruit smoothie mostly. Rock-hard frozen fruits are added after the liquids. The whole job is done in 30-60 seconds. I also use it for pancake mix and other baking job which normally can ended up to be a big mess. The cleaning is easy as the blade assembly is fixed to the carafe. I understand that replacement parts are readily available online too

Lid leaks when you over fill and / or blend thin liquids (like water and soap)
This thing crushes ice like no body's business. Well, once I read the directions and loaded it correctly. You gotta put the ice in after the liquid. It works when you do is vice versa but it sounds very bad. I use this blender primarily for protien shakes. I like it becuase making a morning shake is extremely quick and easy. I load it up and it blends down my ice and frozen fruit in under a minute. It's self-cleaning. All you have to do is do a quick rinse in the sink then blend a small amount of water with soap for like thirty seconds. Rinse out the soap and toss it in the drying rack. The blade assembly is mounted to the carafe. So, there is nothing to disassemble. I've tried cleaning other blenders this way and crud makes it's way into the rubber seal attaching the blade to the carafe. Self-Cleaning rocks. Simple. Hi and Higher togle switch. I never understood those blenders with 11 speeds. I kinda just push the buttons like an old Atari game. All I do with this blender is hit low for abouth 20 secs to crush the ice and HI for about thrity. Works like a charm. Just don't put too much soap and water into the blender. The liquid hits the top of the carafe and leaks out the sides. The lid feels like it snaps on pretty tight, but somehow water leaks out all over the place. It works great when I put in just under a cup of cleaning soultion. The only other concern is that the motor has a slight burning smell. I think it's just burning in. I hope so anyway. It's got a 5 year warranty so i'm not worried.
