Comment:
This blender looked to be the last blender I would ever have to purchase. It looked good and had a solid feel about it. Indeed, it was a pleasure to use and easy to clean. That was until it had it come to a smoking stop when preparing a fruit smoothie. It is approximately 2 years old. It seems the blade/bowl assembly had seized and contaminated the food in the bowl with shredded rubber or plastic. I am waiting on Breville customer service and counting on a free replacement part. If not, Breville will no longer have me as a customer.

Comment:
The blender design and usability is really great - very easy to clean and good selection of settings. Things started going downhill at 6 months, when occasionally the gasket would allow my smoothie to leak out the bottom halfway through the blending. But the real issue appeared after about 18months, when the bearing in the bottom of the bowl began to leak grease and metal shavings. Unbelievable, this should NOT be a failure mode - this is not a high torgue or high lifetime system: that must be a really cheap junky bearing if 18 months of 3-4 uses per week killed it, and I don't appreciate Breville saving a few pennies and putting my health at risk with whatever is in that bearing grease.

Comment:
The worst thing about this blender is the assembly, specifically twisting the blade onto the jar. It's difficult to twist it the right amount because there are all these warnings on it about not overtightening it, but if you don't, it leaks, obviously. When I would tighten it by hand, it would leak every other time. When I called the help line, they suggested using the tool that comes with the blender to tighten it. But on the tool, it specifically says NOT to use it for tightening. Plus, within the first year, the spout on the jar cracked and now it's jagged. Also, the top of the base eroded within the first year For as expensive as this was, it should've been more user-friendly and sturdier.
