About - Black & Decker DCM2160B

The DCM2160B is part of the coffeemaker test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, drip coffeemaker models like the DCM2160B are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Brew temperature:
Brew temperature is the ability to reach 195°F or more for six minutes.

Convenience:
Convenience reflects ease of filling the reservoir, placing the filter, gauging the amount of coffee remaining, cleanup, and clarity of controls.

Carafe handling:
Carafe handling covers handle comfort, tendency to drip when pouring, balance of a full carafe, and how easy it was to empty the last liquid. Models with no score here brew into single-serve containers, or are dispenser-style. Dispenser models hold the brew in a tank; you fill your cup by pressing it against the dispenser lever.

No Mess - Perfect pour ???
By Bloop from Vieques, Puerto Rico on 11/29/2009
Pros:
I t makes coffee
Cons:
Messy pour
Best Uses:
FLOWER POT
How long have you owned it:
One-to-three months
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The first coffee pot dripped from the seam, B & D sent us a new carafe. It dribbles down the carafe unless you pour very slowly. We are shopping for a new coffee maker, definately not a Black & Decker. Someone should have actually pourd a cup of coffee before calling it a "no mess" "perfect pour"

Get what you pay for?
By morning coffee guy from east bay, ca on 10/20/2009
Pros:
Brews quickly, Coffee tastes good, Inexpensive
Cons:
Drips when you pour, Hour button stuck
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

As stated above, to avoid dripping coffee when pouring, you need to lift the top. The hour button is permanently stuck rendering the timer useless.
