About - DeLonghi Multi DCF-212T

The Multi DCF-212T is part of the coffeemaker test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, drip coffeemaker models like the Multi DCF-212T are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Brew temperature:
Brew temperature is the ability to reach 195°F or more for six minutes.

Convenience:
Convenience reflects ease of filling the reservoir, placing the filter, gauging the amount of coffee remaining, cleanup, and clarity of controls.

Carafe handling:
Carafe handling covers handle comfort, tendency to drip when pouring, balance of a full carafe, and how easy it was to empty the last liquid. Models with no score here brew into single-serve containers, or are dispenser-style. Dispenser models hold the brew in a tank; you fill your cup by pressing it against the dispenser lever.

So far, it works fine
By Appleton Man from Appleton, WI on 1/24/2010
Pros:
Convenient, Easy To Use, Large Pot, Stylish
Best Uses:
Everyday, Home, Weekends
Describe Yourself:
Everyday Drinker
How long have you owned it:
One-to-three months
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We bought ours from [...] shortly before Christmas, and have been very happy. There's been no leaking; we put slightly less than 12 cups of water in (because to put more than 12 cups in seems to be stupid, since it's a 12-cup coffeemaker). And we also make sure the "door" that swings out for coffee/water is securely shut.(By the way, shouldn't the overflow design produce overflowed water on the counter? Where else would the water go, if you put too much in?)The coffee is fine, it's hot enough for us, the timer works well, the automatic shutoff feature is very handy, and ... the reason we bought it -- that it sits under a kitchen cabinet and we don't have to move the machine -- makes it worth the purchase. Our last machine, a Black and Decker Spacemaker, lasted for at least 16 years, and finally gave up the ghost. I would doubt that the new machine will last that long, but we have had no problems so far.We gave it four stars because we're not huge fans of the basket for coffee grounds. We'd rather use a paper filter than the basket, and we might try that soon. The basket is not handy for cleaning.

Works great, once you fix the leak
By Goat from Calgary, AB on 12/11/2009

Easy To Use
Best Uses:
Everyday

Everyday Drinker
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line:

This machine leaked for me, which is from the little valve that stops the coffee from flowing when you want coffee while its brewing. It deflects the coffee while its brewing causing some of the coffee to run down the side of the carafe. Remove that valve assembly and no more leaking issues.
