About - DeLonghi Multi DCF-212T

The DeLonghi Multi DCF-212T is part of the coffeemaker test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, drip coffeemaker models like the Multi DCF-212T are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Brew performance:
Brew performance is the ability to reach 195°F or more for six minutes.

Convenience:
Convenience reflects ease of filling the reservoir, placing the filter, gauging the amount of coffee remaining, cleanup, and clarity of controls.

Carafe handling:
Carafe handling covers handle comfort, tendency to drip when pouring, balance of a full carafe, and how easy it was to empty the last liquid. Models with no score here brew into single-serve containers, or are dispenser-style. Dispenser models hold the brew in a tank; you fill your cup by pressing it against the dispenser lever.

Now that I've had this coffee pot well over a year, I wanted to follow up on it. It has easily been the best coffeepot my wife and I have ever owned.

Once a month (almost to the day) I need to run 1/2 tank of white vinegar through it, followed by two tanks of clear water. Reaching in to clean the coffee pot with a paper towel, including the site glass, isn't the easiest thing. But doing that keeps it working like new.

It brews a great cup of coffee quickly, and keeps it at the perfect temperature. And with the pull-out filler, it is one of the easiest coffee pots that you keep under your cupboards to fill.

Great coffee pot, great value.

If you want a tasty cup of coffee, this maker is great. If you want it TODAY, you're out of luck.

I've had this for over a year, and I've put up with it because I hate buying something if the thing it's replacing isn't even broken. That said, I've had it. I'm going to get a different coffeemaker.
It takes FOREVER to make even the first cup of coffee - the most crucial cup! If it didn't have the feature where you can serve before it's done brewing, I would've tossed this thing out of the window. It's really loud, so it sounds like things are happening, the brew is brewing...but it's a tease.
And the timer function turns off the heat relatively quickly, so add that to the slow brew, and by the time a full pot is done brewing, the heat will turn off.

I just think if it takes this long to brew, it doesn't matter that it looks nice, has a great under-the-counter pull-out filter, etc

What you want out of a coffee maker. Pours easily, durable, hot enough coffee. My problem with this is that it seems to take FOREVER for a pot to brew. When I am trying to rush out of the house in the mornings for work; or having family and friends over, the length of time for a pot to brew is way too long!

Weakness
Design defect which allows brewing coffee to spill onto the heating element
This coffee maker is the worst coffee maker I have ever owned. There is clearly a design defect which after about 3 weeks of usage allows the coffee which is supposed to drip into the pot to instead drip down onto the heating element and the countertop. The result is a very unpleasant burned smell plus a flood of hot coffee on the countertop. I called customer service, was told since it was under warranty to send them part of the cord and $9.00 and they would send me a new coffee maker, which they did. It was the same serial number and has the same problem. I have emailed the company and am awaiting their reply but in the meantime have bought a different brand of coffee maker.
