I love the design of this coffee maker. Brews fast,no worry about breaking the glass carafe is a big bonus. Love the fact that it beeps after its brewed.<br />Yes it can be a bit of a pain to have to take the top of to fill up the bottom,but its still a good design.<br />Coffee is always fresh from top to bottom of tub.Like the idea it has settings for how long it can stay on for.Working shift work and being the 1st one up, means they is always fresh coffee.<br />This was a Christmas gift that I picked out and wont regret the purchase either.

I got this coffee maker as a Christmas gift in 2011, It was one I asked for and really enjoyed, until about October of 2011. Then the on/off indicator light went out. I lived with that for about 2 months. That was until this morning, when the display screen went out completely. It appears to have died altogether. Now I have to ask for a new coffee maker. But, it is still 12 days until Christmas and I can't wait that long. So, off to buy a new one, but not a Hamilton Beach.

I thought I was originally buying the 47454 model (which we have had and loved before), but when I got it home & realized it was the one everyone was writing bad reviews on, I almost returned it. I decided to give it a chance. It has worked just fine--you need to pour water in carefully and when you are removing the grounds, open lid slowly...yes a little water may drip on the counter, but nothing to speak of. Little inconveniences, but it has been a fine coffee maker.
