We use this everyday and love the machine. My husband said that of all the things that I bought for almost 29 years that this is the best ever. My guests love it also and decided to have their own. This is my first Breville and last week I bought the Breville Blender and I also love it.

Like greeting a friend for coffee at 0530AM each morning, this reliable pal makes my wife and I amazingly fresh, perfectly tempered sweet pour of coffee enabling us to dash out and endure our arduous and lengthy commutes in to Manhattan daily. I know this sounds like an infomercial but I read the reviews and was a bit concerned but took a chance and have been rewarded every day since I bought this over 1 year ago. Once in a while, very rare, the computer gets funky. By funky, I mean it will cycle through a longer heat up cycle, then say it is brewing but it really is not...then, it tells me to lift the lid or something like that...which I do, then when I shut the lid, it gets itself together and goes through a 2-3 minute cycle and gets back in the correct operating mode and makes me a perfect cup of coffee....so, I just write it off to anomoulous computer behavior I can live very happilly with. I have to say, contrary to some of the reviews where reliability is their chief concern, this unit has been extremely reliable and has made me their evangelist and a full compliment of coffees from on line retailers has my friends all enthusiastic about this, too.

One of best appliance buys I ever made, since I bought from big box retailers with discount coupon with free shipping!

BUY IT and ENJOY! If it dies in first week, which it may, don't get unhappy, just return and replace it...it is worth it. These things are electronic and mechnanical marvels and things go wrong with them in transit...also, sometimes, maybe you just neeed the computer to re set itself or run some cycles...also, to some who complained the cup of coffee was not hot enough, I beg you to check the temperature settings which are far more controllable than any drip coffee maker and as easy to set as hitting the menu button.

Comment:
We use this unit every morning and whenever we have company. The unit is quick to warm and keeps making great tasting coffee quickly enough to keep ten guests happy with a sixteen ounce cup each. Coffee has great taste. I tried several pod machines before buying this one and rejected the pod machines because the coffee is just insipid, unless you like five ounce cups. With the fill-it-yourself insert, I can fresh grind any coffee in the world and make my own blends for about $.15 per sixteen ounce cup. This includes expressos and exotic coffees. Cleaning is simple. Just run a cycle of vinegar every six months. Wash (by hand or dishwasher) the water container every week or so. There is even a drip pan on the bottom that never gets dirty because the machine does not leak. Use is simple and choice of cup sizes is great. By the way, you can make coffee and tea one cup after the other and I have guests who like exotic teas. For example, high altitude teas brew perfectly as do more earthy varieties. Since I have the insert, I buy whatever coffee or tea I want and then simply make it to order, including strength.
