Coffee Doesn't Stay Hot

Comment:
Make 2 cups of coffee per day. After a few months of use, water temperature is not hot enough to brew. Supposed to be 160 degrees, is now 120 degrees. This is the third one send by Keurig. All three did not perform well during the warrantee period.

Comment:
I consider myself a coffee snob, and I love what this little machine is able to do, in the role that it serves in my daily routine. I drink 3 mugfuls of black dark roast coffee each day, starting out with press pot coffee with breakfast at home and ending with an Americano or espresso made on my espresso machine after dinner. I was searching for a solution for my office for the time in between, wanting something free of mess (forget about press pots or filter...) and still at least approximating what I drink at home (forget about drip coffee makers). The mini Keurig is the perfect solution for this need. It sits on a corner of my desk. I fill the reservoir with filtered water for each cup, pop in a french roast pod, and get a full 8-10 oz mug in about a minute. It comes out rich, just the right temperature, and -- the best part -- clean up is just throwing out the spent K-cup. I occasionally run water through for cleaning, and have once in 6 months taken out the cup holder for additional cleaning. But that's it. I'm not sure what is more convenient, and why this hasn't earned a higher mark from CR. On the other hand, their review does not factor in flavor, and I'm here to say that the Keurig is capable of delivering a really terrific, flavorful cup of coffee with a K-cup matching your own flavor and strength needs.

Comment:
I have brewed over a thousand cups of coffee with this machine and it is working fine. I generally don't buy K-cups, but instead use a Solofill refillable basket (available online) that works much, much better than the one that Keurig supplies. I think Keurig deliberately makes an inferior refillable basket to encourage the exclusive use of their K-cups.

It is possible to make larger cups of coffee by tricking the machine a little. If you pour your water in with the K-cup insertion handle raised instead of down, you can get a full 12 ounces of water in the machine no problem. I do it every time I brew and it hasn't caused any issues.

The only problem I ever experience is that it occasionally brews a short cup. When that happens, I just brew several cups of water without inserting a K-cup to clean out the machine and it goes right back to working fine.
