Washing:
Washing performance is assessed by running the normal or equivalent cycle to clean a full load--10 place settings of very dirty dishes that were scraped but not rinsed. We examine the dishes and glassware after cleaning for residual food.

Comment:
I have had this dishwasher for about 7 years. It was installed as part of a complete kitchen remodel in my starter home. Some detergents dont work as well as others in this unit. Overall a great basic dishwasher for the lowest end pricing you can find. Ive been happy with all of my Hotpoint appliances. This one ended up dying just recently (motor siezed up). Fortunately I have a home warranty that covers it! Probably not the most reliable model out there, but you get what you pay for...

Comment:
Almost to the year we purchased it, our Hotpoint dishwasher broke! And we only run it every other day! The machine is loud so I'm used to its sounds and timing. I could hear that the water stopped running so my husband manuevered the machine to finish the cycle. When the cycle was finished the water didn't drain and we had to scoop it out. We'll see what happens when the repair man comes on Monday - $99 for a visit according to the GE website!

Comment:
After only a couple of months this dishwashr began making a horrendous grinding sound. It still worked as it should but I can only run this dishwasher when I'm about to leave the house. It seems to work well enough for me otherwise. Dishes get clean and are dry if I use the heated dry option.
