One of the best on the market
By A do it yourselfer from Algonquin, IL on 1/10/2010
Pros:
Attractive Design, Cleans Well, Easy To Load, Energy Efficient, Quiet, Simple Controls
Best Uses:
Delicate Items, General Purpose, Larger Kitchens, Pots and Pans, Smaller Kitchens
Describe Yourself:
Avid Cook
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros: We have a large family and often use the dishwasher twice a day. It cleans very well and only rarely do we find something that was not cleaned. It is very quiet. It loads fast and has a lot of options for arranging the dishes. I only wish we had this years ago. A great buy and worth the extra cost.

Cons: The only minor complaint is the cycle is long but Kitchen Aid states that the longer cycle is due to energy efficiency. Also I installed this myself and one of the diagrams was wrong for connecting the drain hose. The diagram is very confusing, so it took one accident (water on the floor) with the drain to figure it out. After that no problems.

Owned two and both only lasted 8 months
By Not buying North American anymore from Canada on 12/23/2009
Pros:
Attractive Design, Easy To Use
Cons:
Leaks
Describe Yourself:
Avid Cook
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We purchased the first one in May of 2008, the unit leaked water past the main gasket and into the door which contained the electronics. This occurred in December of 2008. After three months of waiting for parts and several repair attempts by factory authorized technicians to resolve the problem, Whirlpool agreed to replace this Kitchenaide branded dishwasher after we threatened to sue. The new washer was installed at the end of April 2009 and now (Dec 2009) the symptoms are the same as before. Whirlpool will no longer offer warranty even though the dishwasher is only 8 months old because they use the date of purchase of the original machine to validate the warranty?

Attractive Design, Cleans Well, Easy To Load, Quiet
Cons:
Long Cycle, Unreliable
Best Uses:
General Purpose
Describe Yourself:
Casual Cook
How long have you owned it:

Initially liked the dishwasher very much. After about 6 months, it got noticeably louder. Then, last week, it started reeking of burned rubber, and we haven't used it since.
