Good, fairly reliable model however...

Pros:
Cleans Well, Simple Controls
Cons:
Awkward Loading
Best Uses:
General Purpose
Describe Yourself:
Casual Cook
How long have you owned it:
A month or less
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I owned a previous model which was the exact same dishwasher. Water pump went out after 2 months but the tech came and replaced it. It worked great for the next 3 years, heavy use with 8 people in the house. Dishwasher was run at least once a day, sometimes twice. At this price point I didn't expect it to last as long as it did. Dishes came out clean 99% of the time and nice & dry using high temp wash, heated dry, sani rinse, normal cycle. THEN the control panel took a dump, got the dreaded "clean" light blinking and the dishwasher no longer heated the water. It still sort of functioned though without heated water, the dishes would have to be run twice through to even be remotely clean.

SO after much research and deliberation, I went out and bought the same model, except with an extended warranty this time around. The price was great and I'm crossing my fingers it'll last just as long. HOWEVER I did notice that the plastic used on the tub in these newer models is much thinner and I noticed the warping around the edges which is scary.

Also I did a test run on the it when it was initially installed and it started leaking like crazy!! Apparently you cannot run Whirlpools empty or it will do that - which is crazy and makes me question how this model will work... I don't remember ever having this issue with all the other Whirlpools or Kenmores I've owned.

plain ol' dishwasher
By Pasta and omelets from San Diego, Ca on 1/27/2010
Pros:
Attractive Design, Easy To Load, Simple Controls
Cons:
Doesn't Clean Thoroughly, Doesn't Dry Well, Loud
Best Uses:
Smaller Kitchens
Describe Yourself:
Casual Cook
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Bachelor. Either gets rinsed and put in right away or sits in sink until hammer and chisel required. Cleans the first just fine. Does not clean the second.
Stainless steel front. Looks good.
Handles tall things on both shelves. Lots of room compared to my past ones.
Controls are easy to use but then I only need ON/OFF.
I use a drying agent but some things still come out wet or with drying spots.
Not really that loud but I installed it myself; I'm in a second floor condo with wood floors and for the first 2-3 months the water spraying against the front door made me think I had a major leak. It was easy to install.
It was not expensive. Matches the rest of my kitchen. Does what I expect from a dishwasher.
