It's not easy sorting out dishwasher reviews...almost every model has a very negative review and I finally just took a chance on the LG - it had the racks and capacity I wanted, good price and looks. We were replacing a 7 year old Whirlpool that worked fine for years but just wasn't cleaning well anymore. The LG is great - even the dishes that had a few months of dirt on them from the old dishwasher are clean now. I do notice the slight electric motor odor that I think someone else complained about but I am pretty sure it is diminishing.We bought it at [@] for [$]...I only looked at two other stores but it was during my 'shopping around' period and hadn't fixed on the manufacturer or model yet...I wasn't really shopping for price. The salesperson at[@] was really great and I bought it based on her service - we had a quick tour of all the dishwashers so I could compare the racks and she told me of any issues she knew of with any models.I did have my appliance professionally installed - I don't regret it, and it cost $160. I took out the old one and it was just tricky enough to make me think I should get a pro to put the new one in. He said thought the LG was a good appliance and that he thought the old one would have needed a complete overhaul to get it cleaning properly.Good luck - I hope that whatever model you choose works great for you.

I have an LG LDF6920 dishwasher which is the same as that for this unit, as far as the basic mechanics of the washing system is concerned. They use the very same sump unit that includes both pumps and motors. Ours is about three years old and has worked well and remained quiet until now. It has developed a high-pitched squeal whenever the main washing pump is running. What I am told is happening is that the main circulation pump seal is worn, allowing water to leak into the upper bearing of the main drive motor. That is causing that motor bearing to make the squealing noise. This will soon lead to failure of the main drive motor. I purchased a complete new sump unit that includes heater, new pumps, new motors, grinder, soil detector, etc. and will replace it myself. This will be our first and last major repair for this dishwasher and out it will go to be replaced by a Bosch. Another weakness of these LG dishwashers is the cheap nylon cables that, with the help of springs, assist in lifting the door. They fray and fail in a couple of years of use. The cables should be of better synthetic material or of steel for longer life.

We use this once a day and love the looks and quiet running. Unfortunately it leaks like a sieve! We have had the repair guys out 6 times and it leaks the next use. My hardwood floor is ruined. The repairs will cost more than the unit. I had a Maytag for 16 yrs and it never leaked. We bought 4 LG kitchen appliances and NEVER, NEVER AGAIN buy LG. The service is awful from the manufacturer and thank heavens we bought the extended warranty or we'd be out of luck after months of attempted repairs. I want anything other than LG.
