From the very beginning the thermostat on the oven did not work properly. Repair person has been to my house twice and each time tried to fix it. Problems returned shortly after each visit. This week, I started the oven and a metallic burning smell started, then smoke came out of the range. Fire department was called, and they unplugged the range and stayed until it cooled off. Called the company, which is actually Whirlpool, to get a replacement and they told me the warranty is for repair and not replacement. They will not replace it without another tech coming out, plugging the range back in and trying it, and then if it does not work to his or her satisfaction, then only the repair person can declare it unrepairable. This is after the fire dept warned me not to plug the range back in. The company snidely told me that if I would like to, I could have the fire dept there when the tech comes. Then the company told me that they even require the range be plugged back in after this product goes up in flames. Obviously, Whirlpool is aware that this product has problems and aware that they sometimes go up in flames. Avoid this product at all costs.

We bought this range three years ago. It is currently out again and after spending [$] a year ago, a new repair guy states that it will now be another $260.00 for parts and $100 for service call. The main electrical board on the top has shorted out twice...The last time the oven kept coming on and wouldn't shut off and this time it keeps turning on the broiler,which causes the oven not to work. We are getting a new range and we will NEVER buy Amana anything again.
