About - Frigidaire FGF368G[S]

The Frigidaire FGF368G[S] is part of the kitchen range test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, gas range models like the FGF368G[S] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Cooktop high:
This reflects how quickly the most powerful burner could raise a 6-liter (6 1/3-quart) pot of water from room temperature to a near boil.

Cooktop low:
This reflects the gentlest burner's ability to melt and hold chocolate without scorching it. We also set the most powerful burner to its lowest flame to test its ability to hold a large pot of tomato sauce below a boil.

Baking:
This reflects the evenness of cookies and cakes in multi-rack baking tests.

Comment:
The second time the self-clean was used the oven would shut down during pre-heat. 7 repairman visits later, the extended warranty people finally admitted the oven couldn't be repaired. The oven was 2 year old. Repairman took me he advises customers never to use the self clean feature because the ovens really can't take the high temperatures.

Plus, the oven light switch shorted out when attempting to clean the oven top. Also, very difficult to clean stove top.

Comment:
I have owned this range for over a year and have been extremely dissatisfied with its performance since day one. The cooktop is extremely difficult to clean. The timer functionality is not intuitive. With baking, I found that the temperature is not consistent and generally bakes unevenly particularly on the left side (stove is level). The oven vents outrageously hot in the front of the stove and will melt anything that is left in too close proximity. Beware of burns.

Comment:
The top is VERY difficult to clean - scratches and chips easily. Any little splash from the pan burns onto the surface.
