Our microwave has been repaired three times in three years. It has just come back from a repair and it has major problems. KitchenAid covered cost of parts not labor. I have spent enough on repairs that I could have purchased a new microwave.

I wished I seen this low rating from Consumer's Reports before I purchased it.

We did a complete remodel of our kitchen and purchased all Kitchenaid appliances in December 2009. This microwave stopped heating after 10 months. We fortunately were still under warranty and they replaced the fuse. To fix this they had to remove the entire microwave from the wall and had to take it apart to get to the fuse. Last night the microwave stopped heating again. Now we have to decide if we want pay to get it fixed which I'm sure will be expensive since they have to remove it from the wall or replace it. We purchase Kitchenaid appliances because we thought they were reliable but not so. We had a counter microwave that we had had for years that we never had a problem with. If Kitchenaid knows that the fuse will have to be replaced every few years than make it where it can be replaced by the homeowner without having to remove it from the wall. I would not recommend this product.

I bought this model in 2011. After 5 months it stopped heating so I had it repaired for $284. Now the heating doesn't begin until after it's running for one minute - a cup of coffee takes 3 minutes. Lack of a good instruction manual is also frustrating. I complained to Kitchenaid customer service but they don't seem to care. They offered me a Flat Fee repair with a One Year warranty for $348. They said I could buy additional insurance to extend the warranty but they could not give me a price. For these reasons I'll steer clear of Kitchenaid products in the future.
