Same as many others who have posted about the Whirlpool microwave, our magnetron went out around the one year mark of the warranty. We got lucky and got the magnetron replaced, but unfortunately it went out again in less that three months. We were told it was no longer under warranty.
Given the number of complaints and money the owners have spent on replacement parts and labor, I am surprised i cannot find a class action suit.
The poor customer service from Whirlpool and the company that holds the warranty contract just adds to our grief.

We did NOT really need the convection feature. If you don't really NEED convection and DON'T use it frequently DON'T even think about this unit or any one with convection. After exactly 24 months the magnatron went out. Repair greater than $200 PLUS labor. Can get a simpler, more reliable unit for less than the repair - made by a different company. I will think twice before buying Whirlpool again. Sad thing is I have a Whirlpool counter top I have used for over 10 years. Not what they used to be.
Other sad thing- I bought stove that broke and frig all by Whirlpool, at the same time.

Comment:
I have had to take off work FIVE times for repair. The Magnetron has went out FOUR times and am now going to get number five installed in less than a year. One time I advised service to bring a magnetron with them and the tech showed up without one. I was advised by a service tech to get the extended warranty and I am glad I did, even though it is still under factory warranty another 3 months.
