Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's
our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on bottom freezer refrigerator
models like the GDSC0KCX[ ].
Claimed capacity (cu. ft.):
Claimed capacity is the manufacturer's estimate of the volume, in cubic feet, of interior space.
The Ratings of GE GBSC0HBX[WW] were applied to untested model GE GDSC0KCX[ ], which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.
The GE lines include GE, GE Profile, GE Café, and GE Monogram. GE will be offering an interactive LCD screen on some of its models, and on one Profile model there will be a refreshment center and fold-away shelves.

Cabinet-depth model Cabinet-depth models usually measure 27 to 28 inches deep, not quite flush with the cabinets, but at least three inches shallower than many standard 36-inch-wide models. You can get models with stainless exteriors or panel kits.
French-door style French door models are bottom-freezer refrigerators whose upper compartments have two narrow doors that open similarly to the doors of a side-by-side refrigerator. These narrower doors use less space in front of the refrigerator when opened, and allow access to either or both sides of the full-width fresh-food compartment. Typically more expensive, French-door models are usually 36 inches wide, though some newer models are 33 inches wide.
Water dispenser It is normally located in the fresh food compartment.
Stainless/SS-look option Stainless steel is stylish but it shows fingerprints. Another option: a vinyl-covered metal finish that gives you a stainless-steel look but resists smudging.
We bought a new GE refrigerator in April '13. Less than 6 months later the fridge could not keep its temperature, having a variation of about 20 degrees. We placed a service call and waited 9 days for the tech to show. After plugging into the on-board computer it said it did not show anything wrong but to appease us they could change the motherboard. A week later he came back to change the board. This did not resolve the issue. We called back and waited another week for him to show up. Again, on-board computer did not show anything wrong. He said the will change a sensor, just to see if that would do it.<br />It's been a month now and the fridge is still not working. The engineer does not know what is wrong and suggests changing pieces one at a time and see. Customer relation is un-helpful and un-willing to move to a resolution. I will not buy another GE product again and would advise you do not either
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

bad GE frig
Bad Ice Maker
Not Cold Enough
Basically this style GE frig is unacceptable. It cannot hold freezer temps when house temp is above 76 degrees(all summer in NC) and also has trouble holding frig temps in same circumstance. Ice maker dumps ice in the freezer, lighting/controls blocks access to top shelf. Technicians were unable to fix operation after multiple warranty trips - ordered another in warranty and same problems!
