About - LG LBC22518[SW]

The LG LBC22518[SW] is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, bottom freezer refrigerator models like the LBC22518[SW] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two models with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise:
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Comment:
Day after installed leaked water on floor (without a water dispenser) 1st. repair call. Noisy, smelly defrost cycle, erratic temp.control, after 4 years it died. Repair person said approx $450 and that probably will not fix it. No guess on total cost.
LG customer service was non-existent. Sorry, Too bad, Better luck with next one, You had 4 yrs. without problems what do you want..

Comment:
Love this fridge!. the door bins are all movable (except the 'cheese' section)and deep.

The 24 hour 'turbo' freeze option allows to freeze batches (say 12 cups of fresh turkey broth) more rapidly (then the freezer returns to normal freezing rate).

you lose a bit of space in a bottom freezer due to to the door carriage... but nothing ever falls off! the tilt out small items shelf built into the freezer door is great... right upfront

the fridge capacity is a bit smaller for a 22.4 compared to a conventional top freezer... (bottom freezers take some more space) but the shelving flexibility is great

the cold air comes in through a 'spine' at the back so it is spread more evenly into the fridge. Food keeps longer in this fridge than any other i've owned
