Something to whine about

Pros:

Attractive Design, Customizable Shelving, Easy Access, Energy Efficient, Holds Temperature Well, Space For Tall Items, Wide shelves on door

High-pitched whine

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great refrigerator in all aspects EXCEPT the high-pitched whine made by the generator, which is classified as "normal operating sounds". I don't feel this is an acceptable feature, and plan to find some sort of resolution, even if this means having to upgrade the product. That is, of course, if I will be allowed to exchange the original item!

Pros:

Has electronic touch pad, Nice layout, Very nice use of space

Cons:

Add on ice maker is poor, Calls to LG go unanswered, Refrigerator fan freezes, Service non-existant

How long have you owned it:

More than six months

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We had the refrigerator section stop working while freezer
continued functioning, after less than a year.
Repeated calls to LG HQ went unanswered. NO LOCAL repair shops
would touch it, would not return calls if message stated it was LG.
Found solution on a web site--the refrig fan freezes.
Shutting down unit for 6 hours thaws fan and everything works again.
