In our lab tests, side by side refrigerator models like the RS261MD[WP] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below. Temperature performance: This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures. Energy efficiency: This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two refrigerators with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient. This unit has had problems since day one. Telephone Samsung Technicians were misleading. Samsung attempted a fix but the unit remains barely operational. Samsung offered an $850.00 refund for a unit that cost a bit over $1,100.00. I'll not buy another Samsung refrigerator.

I bought this Samsung because it was the least expensive of comparable brands/models. The installers could not level the doors! Was it them or the Samsung, I still don't know...<br />But the WORST part of this model is its very poor to inexistent ice dispenser design. No matter how high and how hard you push your container, glass or pitcher up, ice will spill onto the floor.<br />It's as if the engineers did not even test that part. It's extremely annoying and every time I need ice, I cringe. I back up a foot or two to avoid getting my shoes wet and I am guaranteed that my floor will be covered with ice. All it needed was a longer plastic funnel.<br />ARGHHHH....

Ice dispenser quit functioning 4 days after plugging it in out of the box. Noisy too. The worst part was the terrible customer service from Samsung. They have call center and live chat representatives who struggle with English and can't make sense of your issue. Two service appointments were suddenly cancelled and I finally gave up and decided to return this refrigerator inside the full refund time period with the retailer. BEWARE: DONT BUY ANY SAMSUNG.
