The Whirlpool WRS325FDAM is part of the refrigerator
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, side by side refrigerator
models like the WRS325FDAM are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two refrigerators with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.
About This Brand
Brands under the Whirlpool umbrella include Maytag, Amana, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, and Whirlpool, all of which offer French-door models in addition to other types. Whirlpool refrigerators are known for measured-fill dispense systems on their water dispensers.
Claimed capacity (cu. ft.) Claimed capacity is the manufacturer's estimate of the volume, in cubic feet, of interior space.
Claimed capacity (cu. ft.)
Cabinet-depth model Cabinet-depth models usually measure 27 to 28 inches deep, not quite flush with the cabinets, but at least three inches shallower than many standard 36-inch-wide models. You can get models with stainless exteriors or panel kits.
Water dispenser The water dispenser is normally accessible from the outside as part of the ice and water dispenser.
Stainless/SS-look option Stainless steel is stylish but it shows fingerprints. Another option: a vinyl-covered metal finish that gives you a stainless-steel look but resists smudging.
Energy cost/yr. ($) Estimated cost in dollars, based on the current year's average national electricity rate. Your cost will vary depending on the rate for electricity in your area.
Ice chunks become stuck when you release the lever to push for ice. This ice will melt onto your now wet floor. Technician replaced 2 weeks after purchase. Problem continues. The ice chunks that get stuck begin to melt and then get stuck in there. If someone else tries to get ice later the whole reservoir becomes full with melting ice. Causing a really wet slippery floor. The tech told me we were not removing cup when it was full. So I tapped the lever and showed him the cube that was stuck keeping the lever to the reservoir open. I got two pieces of my ice on this sample. So he says I'm using it wrong too, said you can't just get two pieces of ice, who does that he said. I do for one. He said if you only want a little ice you can't use the dispenser. He said it is fine and call whirlpool and left. Disappointed!
