About - LG LTC22350[SW]

The LG LTC22350[SW] is part of the refrigerator test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top freezer refrigerator models like the LTC22350[SW] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Temperature performance:
This combines results of tests measuring the accuracy of initial temperature settings along with how well a model 1) kept optimum temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer at the same time; 2) kept temperatures even throughout each compartment; 3) kept temperatures constant despite changes in room temperatures; and 4) maintained set temperatures even with very high room temperatures.

Energy efficiency:
This reflects electricity consumption (based on our tests) per cubic foot of measured usable storage space. For example, two refrigerators with the same energy cost per year may have different energy efficiencies -- the unit with more storage space being more efficient.

Noise:
Noise level was measured when the compressor started up and during steady running. Subjective judgments by a panel of listeners supplemented our noise-meter readings.

Comment:
Once we figured out that the nylon bushing on the refrigerator door was supposed to be installed at the bottom of the door hinge instead of the top (it came that way from the store) the unit has performed quite well. We have had to adjust the freezer temp to the coldest setting to get the ice maker to work but the refrigerator section has operated great. The bins at the bottom are quite large. I like having the sleek design with no handles and the white glossy doors are easy to clean.

Comment:
I was very disappointed with this refrigerator. [...] it would not sit level on the floor due to the over-spray of excessive foam installation on the bottom. [...](The store manger had to cut away the excess foam.)[...] (Changing the side of the door hinges on this model is apparently much more complicated than on other fridges.) The stainless steel is of low quality (magnets will not stick to it), it marks every time I touch the fridge. The only way to keep the refrigerator looking clean is to spray it with a petroleum based product several times a day. Regular cleaners do not seem to work. (I do not want to breathe in a petroleum based product in a room where I am preparing food.) Since, there are no door handles, you can't help but touch the stainless when opening/closing the doors. There is no light in the freezer, which can make viewing items difficult. There are no digital controls for temperature. We hope to make this our basement fridge soon and replace it with a different brand that stays cleaner more easily and that has a light in the freezer and whose doors don't bang every time they are opened.

Comment:
Replaced a 1996 Amana 18 cu. ft top freezer unit. in the kitchen area. Space for a refrigerator was 35(w) and 68(h) and this model was largest with best fit allowing a few inches spare for required air flow.

Interior of this unit is great, way more than the Amana.

Freezer air ducts require careful placement of items so proper flow occurs. This was not a problem with the Amana. I used some plastic bins to hold stacked items and that helped in loading the area. (Put the Amana in the garage and still use it for extra freezer space.) Not sure how CR came up with the usable freezer space figure.

I have had no problem with the ice maker.
