Comment:
I returned this toaster the day after I bought it because it would only toast one side of the bread.

Compared to other good toasters, I noticed that the distance between the heating elements on both sides of the bread is too small. If the bread is placed even slightly off the exact middle, the side closer to one element will get burned while the other will be too light. It doesn't help that the part holding the bread bottom (going up and down) was slightly crooked to the right. On my previous toaster, the distance between the heating elements was over an inch more compared to this thing and I never had any issue.

The slot on the Cuisinart is also not tall enough which means that the top of some types of bread will not toast. The slot on my previous toaster was taller by about inch.

I ended up buying the Breville (taller slot, more distance between elements).

Comment:
I bought a CR subscription just because this toaster stopped working on me, I did a million reviews online, and could not find a quality toaster (still can't).
I bought this toaster because I thought Cuisinart was quality. I was wrong. The handles would not stay down after only 3 months use. Do not buy this toaster or you will be sadly disappointed.
