I have owned one of these model toasters for about 1 year. Liked how it looked and seemed to do its single purpose in life well-make toast. Unfortunately, the right side stopped working and I assume the left side will follow suit soon. I emailed HB to explain I expect many years of service from a low tech appliance like a toaster and would they replace. They informed me that (in absence of the purchase receipt to prove otherwise, which I do not have) based on the model/series code I provided them, the warranty expired in 2009 (yes, that's 3 years ago on a 1 year old toaster). I see there are other reviews of similar experience, so my assessment is that Hamilton Beach is no longer in the business of making top quality appliances and I therefore will no longer purchase any product with their brand name on it.

Purchased this toaster from [@] just based on the looks, price, and brand name (Hamilton Beach used to be known for quality). Just me and my wilfe at home...we only make toast once or twice a week. After less than a year one side of the toaster doesn't work at all. The other side works but you have to unplug the toaster for the toast to pop up so you can easily get it out. What a piece of junk...keep shopping...don't waste your money on this one

Loved the look of the toaster with the brushed metal and glowing blue lights. However, after owning the toaster for about two years the blue lights faded and the toaster stopped working. Since it was over a year, the company would not replace it although it seems a lot of people have the same trouble.
