About - Kenmore 6800[2]

The Kenmore 6800[2] is part of the clothes dryer test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer models like the 6800[2] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Drying performance:
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.

Capacity:
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.

Convenience:
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.

Comment:
1 star only because 0 or negative stars are not allowed.
Bought the dryer from Sears and picked it up/installed it myself. First load.... after 3.5 hours we hung them on the line. Heating element did not work. Sears Customer Service took 2 days to even allow me to schedule service, then that was almost two weeks out. Returned the dryer and bought a GE. Save yourself the time, money, and aggravation, buy a different brand.

Comment:
I usually can depend on Kenmore however on this one I was quite disappointed.
It didn't dry my clothes throughly on the cycles recommended. My dryer sheet would get stuck in the bottom part of the lint collector.
I had to actually return the dryer because where the seam of the drum was sealed, there was a piece of metal sticking up & it was picking & snagging my clothes, actually ruining some of them.

DOES NOT DRY CLOTHERS. TECHNICIAN SAYS IT IS DOING WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO. BLAMES LENGTH OF EXHAUST ON PROBLEM. WE LIVE IN A CONDO. I BELIEVE THE SENSOR IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KENMORE PRODUCT. EVEN WHEN RECOMMENDED BY CONSUMER REPORTS.

More than six months

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
