About - LG SteamDryer DLEX3001[W]

The LG SteamDryer DLEX3001[W] is part of the clothes dryer test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer models like the SteamDryer DLEX3001[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Drying performance:
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.

Capacity:
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.

Convenience:
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.

Comment:
I bought my dryer 2 years ago when I moved to a new house. It has been very reliable in spite of 3 different moves. Although the moisture control feature is not perfect, I can reliably stop the cycle for permapress and remove the items that need to be hung up damp, then continue cycle for rest of load. I read about some complaints with incomplete drying or long cycles. I had similar problem with mine (electric) when I moved into one of the 3 houses...it was solved when I had the outside vent (which was vertical through the roof) cleaned. No problems since. I love the stainless steel tub. It does great job on large and small loads.

Comment:
I do ALOT of laundry, and bought this set on a whim without doing my homework or researching the set. I love the washer and I love the different settings and the steam cycle on the dryer, but the problem is the sensor. It just leaves clothes too wet, and I can never set ANY load of clothes on one of the settings and have it do just one cycle and come out anywhere near dry. To do most loads of clothes, I had to customize a load for the hightest setting for 1 1/2 hours and that gets my loads dry. I've noticed that clothes in the front of the dryer dry differently than in the back of the dryer- the drum is so large which is good but it doesn't seem to have the ability to evenly dry the load. I would add that I don't overlead it at all, and have even weighed my loads after reading their recommendations thoroughly, and the correct sized load or less just won't dry on the sensor settings. It costs me alot more time to set loads three or four cycles to get things dry when I can't dry them on high. On the bright side, I got the blue color which I love, and I love the pedestals, I love the lights on the display and that the machine talks to me! But those fun things don't make up for it's poor drying performance.
