Comment:
The 150 is the exact same machine as the 250 and 350 except for added embroidery programs.

I have been sewing for 45 years so I have plenty of experience -- both sewing and doing anything less than major repairs. I use the 150 for embroidery and my old Kenmore for sewing. I have owned the 150 for over 2 years.

I am on a couple of Yahoo! embroidery groups. The general consensus -- of even the Futura only group -- is that the Futura is finicky. One machine will accept one type of thread well while another does not. Same for needles, stabilizers, you name it.

However, the real problem comes with the reliability of the machine. The same Yahoo! groups are filled with questions about getting the machine to run correctly. Once the newness wears off, Futie starts becoming troublesome. Several of the problems are fixable at home if you are mechanically inclined, but be ready to fix them over and over. I have a problem that I cannot fix. Neither could the repairman. Consequently, I watch the entire stitch out of the design (time consuming) and pray a lot.

If it were not for the Yahoo! groups, I would assume that the problem was my particular machine. Given the universality of the problems, I believe it is the machine in general.

This is a machine that is a lot of fun in the beginning. When it was new, I would read about others' problems and think they weren't taking proper care of the machine. I am way over that belief now.

Even my DH suggests that I toss the Futura and buy something else.
