Comment:
I have owned 3 of these through a well known internet company. Each time before the warranty ran out I had to pay close too $100 to ship it back only to hear it was not economical to fix therefore i would be receiving a ridiculously low sum due to prorating it. I was told by the last company sale that it would be guaranteed replacement (GET IT IN WRITING FIRST) and later learned that they did not turn paperwork in to warranty company as such. Just be careful, there are still people like A-B out there and using a B---ers Warranty Group. Check it out.

Comment:
Use this for making things with fabrics (from saw-dust catchers and roller-chair pad backing, pouches for marbles, children's beanbag games, card-table play-houses, to jeans, shirts, dresses, play hats, jackets for children (34, 21, 11, 11) and grandsons (5 & 3). What's best is massive steam at a click, but then totally dry when the trigger is released. That means you don't have to wait (or burn fingers) when folding over narrow bits of fabric for, say, french- or flat-felled seams, making your own bias tape and cording. But I do have a caution that a crucial aluminum weld (bonding the filler nipple to the 1-quart boiler) cracked at 11 months and 15 days of the 1 year warranty, and reading of the wiring shortcomings in a prior review. I would suspect inadequate quality control testing over [*]. That certainly wouldn't be a surprise. But given the heat and high pressure this product develops (which of course is the basis of its high utility), I'd think that Rowenta management would want to err on the side of caution. Of course, even though the three World Trade Center buildings' steel framing was spec'd out to be four times as strong as needed (to withstand hurricane-strength winds and/or numerous airplane strikes (the architects had the example of a B-25 bomber hitting the Empire State building years before). But even quadruply redundant construction strength was no match for extremely well-done explosive demolition artists, was it. Of course, it's unlikely, in home sewing use, that anyone would want to rig your Rowenta for explosive demolition, right?

Comment:
We had this iron for over a year and had no problems. In fact, we loved it because it performed so well. One day the switch broke. I decided to order a part replacement and repair it myself. When I took the unit apart, I realized that indeed the switch was broken, but far more alarming ws the fact that the internal wiring was so badly deteriorated, it had turned BLACK from overheating. Although I never smelled smoke, I feel like this could easily have started a fire. I replaced the switch, which happened to include the wiring. The iron was back up and working just fine for about two months. Out of concern, I opened the unit back up to check on the new components and they too were starting to turn brown. I'm sure this company's commercial products have heavier-duty wiring. This product, despite being consumer-targeted, also needs heavier-duty wiring.
