I am a professional tailor and was given this iron. I had an old version of this model I had loved but stopped buying Rowenta when I noticed the quality really went down. Someone gave me this iron when they had only used it for 3 weeks. I hate it because EVERY time I push the steam button I have to hold the iron out while it shoots scalding water and wait for a minute until it turns to steam. Not every time I turn it on, EVERY time I push the steam button, as in dozens of times a day when I use it. If I forgot it could scald and mark delicate fabrics. Very frustrating. Rowenta used to be a great brand about 10 - 15 years ago but my extensive experience with many of their products (dont get me started on the steamer I bought that was down right a danger) is they are now garbage and a $10 drug store iron is more desirable.

I have owned this rowenta steam iron for 4 years now and have never had a problem with it. We purchase o rings from [@] and they do a great job when you need to replace the gasket.I do a weekly iron that takes me about 3 hours, I fill the iron up twice in that time, it has a huge water tank that lasts for approx 1.5 hours. It does save time because there is so much steam it basically means on some garments you only have to iron the one side.I will buy this steam iron again when this one needs replacing. Well worth the money I spent on it.

I would not purchase this item again, as it has not held up at all. It has leaked badly on a couple of occasions, and it was not due to over filling the resevoir, I don't even know why it leaked so badly but it does hold a substantial amount of water and every bit of the tank leaked out onto my carpet. No big deal for the carpet as it was just water, but frustrating all the same. I do iron a couple days a week, and did find it took a long time to heat just to iron a pair of slacks or a blouse. Then after purchasing this iron back in October, 2011 the off/on switch broke and I can not even turn it on now. According to a previous review, it does not sound like a good option to replace the switch as the wiring does not sound safe. That option is a no brainer to me. I have to say that I really did like this iron at first, but absolutely would not recommend someone pay this much for an iron that did not even hold up 6 months with minimal use. I will just go out and buy another iron and trash this one. In my opinion and experience - a big waste of money.
