Bag Denotes whether the model has a disposable bag. A growing number of vacuums, particularly upright models, use a container that can be emptied, eliminating the bag. To capture fine-dirt particles, however, these models must use a filter (such as a HEPA filter) that can need routine cleaning or replacement. Replacement filters tend to be significantly more expensive than bags. While vacuums with bags may also use filters, the bag acts as a prefilter that helps to keep the fine-dirt filter cleaner, thus extending its performance until cleaning or replacement. Another caveat: Emptying the dustbin and cleaning a filter can be messy, and handling it may expose you to dust and other allergens.

Brush on/off An on/off switch for the rotating brush lets you stop the brush from rotating when using tools or cleaning bare floors. This helps eliminate scattered dirt on bare floors and reduces the risk of injury if the vacuum tips over during use. It also reduces the risk of damaging a carpet or the finish of a bare floor if the vacuum sits in place at the low-height setting.
Easy on/off A switch that's located on the handle or where your foot can activate it is more convenient than one on the body of the vacuum.
Manual-pile adjust Lets you adjust the height of the machine to a carpet's pile height to allow for easy movement and thorough cleaning. Adjustments are automatic on some models, but we prefer the manual control afforded by some models.
While it is a very quiet vacuum, the carpet attachment is fairly noisy.
I wish I could return it but ordered online with no satisfaction guarantee. I am stuck with it. I tried warranty service but was told it works fine. The bag full indicator has never once lit up to indicate when to change the bag. When the bag fills, the vacuum becomes hot, shuts off intermittently, emits more stale smell than usual, and loses suction. It seems to work best if the bag is used to about half full. I have to guess since the indicator doesn't work. You go through a lot of expensive bags this way. No retailer in my area carries the s-bags. I have to have Sears special order them or buy online.
The hose and handle are not easy to maneuver. The handle is such a large rigid structure that getting the little brush or nozzle attachment into corners can be impossible. And don't vacuum with those attachments any place where they could fall off and get lost. They come off easily when in use as well as falling out of the 'on board' storage in the handle.
The switches on the handle are easily touched while using the vacuum, causing frequent shut offs.
When using the power head for carpet, it pulls itself forward and requires extra force to pull it backward again. As you reverse direction to pull toward you, the front of the power head dips down and rides extra close to the carpet no matter what carpet level you have selected.
It is no fun having to overcome all of these design flaws to get it to work properly.
All in all, this thing does clean up dirt and pet hair, but is a hassle to use and is certainly not designed with the user in mind. Who designs this stuff? People who never clean? It is made by Eureka and they put the good old Electrolux name to shame.

Easy To Empty
Hose too stiff
The Ultrasilencer is great in all areas except for a very stiff hose that makes it a bit of a hassle to move about, other than that it's a fine vacuum. Keep my fingers crossed regarding reliebility.
