The 33-pound, bagless Rainbow e-series E-2 canister vacuum gives you the option to manually adjust its height to match your carpet's pile. It also includes a brush on/off switch for cleaning bare floors such as hardwood and vinyl without scattering dirt. Along with a 24-foot, cord, this model comes with HEPA filtration for sifting out particles and reducing emissions, which can be especially helpful for those suffering from allergies or asthma. It also has suction control, which allows you to change the flow of air when cleaning lighter items such as curtains and heavier ones such as upholstery. The vacuum has a full-bin indicator so you know when the bin needs to be cleaned out.

Bag Denotes whether the model has a disposable bag. A growing number of vacuums, particularly upright models, use a container that can be emptied, eliminating the bag. To capture fine-dirt particles, however, these models must use a filter (such as a HEPA filter) that can need routine cleaning or replacement. Replacement filters tend to be significantly more expensive than bags. While vacuums with bags may also use filters, the bag acts as a prefilter that helps to keep the fine-dirt filter cleaner, thus extending its performance until cleaning or replacement. Another caveat: Emptying the dustbin and cleaning a filter can be messy, and handling it may expose you to dust and other allergens.
Weight (lbs.) Weight of the vacuum cleaner, to the nearest pound.
Brush on/off An on/off switch for the rotating brush lets you stop the brush from rotating when using tools or cleaning bare floors. This helps eliminate scattered dirt on bare floors and reduces the risk of injury if the vacuum tips over during use. It also reduces the risk of damaging a carpet or the finish of a bare floor if the vacuum sits in place at the low-height setting.
Easy on/off A switch that's located on the handle or where your foot can activate it is more convenient than one on the body of the vacuum.
Manual-pile adjust Lets you adjust the height of the machine to a carpet's pile height to allow for easy movement and thorough cleaning. Adjustments are automatic on some models, but we prefer the manual control afforded by some models.
My parents had a Rainbow 30 years ago, I was hoping I would inherit it someday, instead they traded for a Kirby (good product) but it did NOT clean like a Rainbow. (In fact, I traded it for my own Rainbow)It's a bit of a hassle to have to clean the nasty water, I always pour it outside. But you get to see all the nastiness that was lingering in your carpet and your floors. To me that is instant gratification, after working hard at vacuuming the house, I like to see what I'm getting rid of, there are no bags to change and that is good for two reasons, no added expense of bags and no dust in the air from debris being kicked out of your system, because this system captures the dirt with water.
I did indicate that both the cord and hose are too short, the drawback would probably be less suction with a longer hose, but I can't think of any drawback to having a longer power cord.
It was a chunk of change, but I am now a proud and satisfied owner of a Rainbow.
How long have you owned it:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Not a vacuum! Air 1st...total home clean
Easy To Empty
Easy to Use
Long Power Cord
This machine is by far the best investment I have made. It tops the investment in cars and homes. The rainbow purifies the air unlike any another filter based cleaner. Using water just makes since. 3 of my children suffered from asthma needing to maintain with albuteral every three days. For the past 2 years I have run my rainbow in the home constantly on the low setting and have not needed any medication. That is amazing! The rainbow hasn't needed any maintenance... It runs the same today as the first day I got it. I have the rainbow pictured. The is a newer model that I took a look at. It runs even more effective as a home cleaning system. Easy to use and there truly is less dust in our home. Oh... And it cleans better than any other vacuum (and I've owned many high dollar ones). Haha. But that is icing on the cake. The new model is certified by the asthma and allergies association. A must have for every family!
