Summary:As the name indicates, this Hoover bagless upright is meant to appeal to dog and cat owners. It has a full-bin indicator, manual pile-height adjustment, and a brush on/off switch. It has HEPA filters and a 27-foot, retractable cord.
This 23-pound Hoover bagless upright has an indicator to show you when the dustbin needs to be emptied and an easy-to-reach power switch. It also features HEPA filtration, designed to block fine particle emissions, which can be especially beneficial for people with respiratory problems. However, some vacuum cleaners without HEPA also do well at protecting air quality. The Hoover WindTunnel Pet Cyclonic UH70085 has a brush on/off switch, so you can stop the rotating brush on uncarpeted floors, where it tends to scatter dirt before it can be suctioned. The 27-foot,cord retracts automatically. This machine features manual pile adjustment, so you can raise and lower the machine to match your carpet's pile height. It does not have suction control for cleaning curtains and upholstery. As the name suggests, the model is meant to appeal to dog and cat owners.
About This Brand
Hoover is positioned for the consumer who vacuums regularly and appreciates a deep clean. It introduced its first vacuum in 1907 and has established itself as one of the most recognizable brands in this country. More recently, Hoover was bought by TTI Floor Care, the owners of Dirt Devil, from Whirlpool. Hoover sells a wide variety of uprights in mass-market retailers, with models ranging in price from $50 to $300. It also makes hand and stick vacuums, canister models, deep cleaners, central vacuums, bare-floor cleaners, and an outdoor sweeper.
Hoover has a more established presence in canister vacuums and makes about a dozen models, priced from $80 to $300.
Features & Specs - Hoover WindTunnel Pet Cyclonic UH70085
Bag Denotes whether the model has a disposable waste bag. A growing number of vacuums, particularly upright models, use a container that can be emptied eliminating the bag. However, to capture the fine-dirt particles, these models must use a filter (such as a HEPA filter), which can need regular cleaning, or replacement. Replacement filters tend to be significantly more expensive than bags. While vacuums with bags may also use filters, the bag acts as a prefilter that helps to keep the fine-dirt filter cleaner thus extending its performance between cleaning or replacement. Another caveat: Emptying the dustbin and cleaning a filter can be messy, and handling it may expose you to dust and other allergens.

Brush on/off An on/off switch for the rotating brush lets you stop the brush from rotating when using tools or cleaning bare floors. That helps eliminate scattered dirt on bare floors and reduces the risk of injury if the vacuum tips over in use. It also reduces the risk of damaging a carpet or floor if the vacuum sits in place on the low-height setting.
Brush on/off
Yes
Easy on/off A switch that's located on the handle or where your foot can activate it is more convenient than one on the body of the vacuum.

Manual-pile adjust This feature adjusts the height of the machine to a carpet's pile height to allow for easy movement and thorough cleaning. Adjustments are automatic on some models, but we prefer the manual control afforded by some models.

Weight (lbs.) The weight of the vacuum cleaner, to the nearest pound. If you expect to carry your vacuum up and down stairs, consider a lighter vacuum (under 20 lbs.)
I have a 1400 square foot house of wood floors and a bit of carpet, and a husband, dog, and cat. This is marketed as a pet vacuum, and I believe my household falls within its market. Within 3 months of purchase, the unit needed a belt replaced. The repairman told me this was one of the worst types out there. I replaced the belt and hoped for the best and now, 6 months later, it is again non-functional. I am hesitant to go with Consumer Reports high ranking of Hoover, and am looking to replace this waste of money and time with a brand that actually works. Highly disappointed, and frustrated to have wasted my money...

The canister flip-lid was the first to go. The latch did not hold in the first week we had it and the dirt fell out. The store replaced the canister for us. In the past month, the brush stopped spinning. We looked for a belt at the store we purchased it from - they didn't have any. We went on-line to the Hoover site...none available. Today, I packed it up, took it back to the store, and got a in-store credit. We are very disappointed with this vacuum. We expected a lot better from Hoover. Our old WindTunnel is replacing it. [...]

The suction died in 3 months. I suspected the dust was clogged somewhere along the horse, but everything, including the filter, was clean.Horse fell off from the original position and it limits the suction power. It is heavy, and partly because of the heaviness I have hard time moving around with it.It overheats easy...it overheats and shuts down at least once before I finish cleaning my one bedroom apartment. You can tell there are air leaking out from multiple parts.Suction is so bad that it fails to pick up a piece of cornflake off the floor.
