Doesn't Clean Effectively
Incompatible With Septic
Rotten Egg Smell
This is for the FAF3001LW washer.

Within three months of purchasing this, the washing machine was infected with mold. There was black mold underneath the interior rubber rim, and the machine began to smell like rotten eggs. This was even though we had, as suggested in the owner's manual, used vinegar every time we did wash to prevent mold. Be aware that the manual says that you need to regularly clean out the machine with EIGHT cups of bleach. Even though we did this several times, and let the washer dry out for a week afterwards with the door and drawers open, we still couldn't get rid of the mold and rotten egg odor. Dumping eight cups of bleach into it every few weeks, even if it had actually eliminated the mold, would have destroyed our septic system. In a bizarrely surrealistic suggestion, Electrolux customer service suggesting using Tang as a cleaner. I figured if bleach and vinegar wouldn't work, the tang would simply give me clothes that were orange as well as smelly. The Affinity is unfit to clean clothes because of the mold. Given the extraordinary bleach requirements, it shouldn't be used with a septic system. Even worse was customer service. After four weeks without being able to use a washer, Electrolux (Frigidaire's parent company) eventually agreed to give us a credit at the store we bought it from, but the money never showed up and Electrolux has ignored all our calls No surprise that lawsuits over moldy affinity machines are pending in Georgia and California. Bottom line: avoid any front loader built by Electrolux unless you like mold, have stock in Clorox, enjoy litigation, and want to destroy your septic system.
How long have you owned it:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
