About - Frigidaire Affinity FAFW3801L[W]

The Frigidaire Affinity FAFW3801L[W] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, front-loading washing machine models like the Affinity FAFW3801L[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.

Have to buy a new washer!

Comment:
This product needs a longer warranty that covers it's problems! This machine generally worked fine for a year and a half although mildew smell in the clothes is common and must be manually mitigated with moderate success with vinegar and baking soda and the door must be left open after loads to dry out the inside for the same reason. The biggest problem is the pulley on my machine began to slip a lot and the drum would cease to spin, leaving the load soaking wet and unfinished. Had various repair men out multiple times and the machine would work for 1.5 loads and then break down again. This all only to find that the parts and labor will likely not be covered by the warranty and will end up costing close to the same as purchasing a new one! After reading other reviews, sounds like related problems with this device are not uncommon. Frustrated (understatement) that we have to purchase a new machine after less than two years of use!!! In my opinion, don't purchase this machine, or at least not without a full parts and labor warranty that exceeds 2 - 3 years!!!! Disclaimer: the repairman said he thought it was an anomaly and this machine is generally fine. However, as mentioned I read similar reviews to my own regarding the load not spinning etc.

I bought the set around 2 years ago. Washer has been worked on 3 times and the dryer 4. Warranty expires after a year. Now the washer will not drain and the dryers heating element went out. AT 2 YEARS OLD. of course there Is not a warranty so this pair will be thrown out in the trash and I will never guy a Frigidaire product again. A BIG WASTE OF MONEY. please stay away from this set... save yourself a headache. Wish I could give it ZERO stars..

Lint Trap Ruins Clothes

Comment:
The lint trap catches every string, strap, you name it. It has ruined over $1500 in clothing for our family. Athletic shorts with a tie are a staple in our family due to our active lifestyle and there always seems to be one pair I miss putting in a laundry bag to dry. I called the company, described the issue...guess what they did? Sent me the same darn trap/filter!!!
