About - Frigidaire Affinity FAFW3801L[W]

The Frigidaire Affinity FAFW3801L[W] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, front-loading washing machine models like the Affinity FAFW3801L[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.

very disappointed
Best Uses
we bought a set of matching washer and dryer two years ago. The dryer just quit working and the repair man said the computer board is broken, will cost almost $500 to repair. It was not a cheap machine and I would expect it to last more than two years, it was used maybe three times a week or less. Very disappointed

Best Uses
We bought a Frigidaire Gallery series Washer/Dryer 10 years ago and they've been great. Washer broke down so we decided on new not repair. We purchased a Frigidaire Affinity Washer/Dryer pair. Dryer is good although sometimes it doesn't dry quite enough. The washer after 2 weeks of use has decided to not drain or spin. On line I see that this is an epidemic problem with these machines. I'm returning this heap'o'junk tomorrow. If it breaks down this soon it is a sign of things to come.

Heavy/Bulky Items
Great at everyday laundry tasks - particularly good for bulky items like sleeping bags or comforters that top-loaders would have difficulty with. Like other frontloaders, it's watertight seal means you must crack the door after use to throroughly dry it out and avoid odors forming from a terrarium effect. This is a quality product with great controls and display.

Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
