About - Frigidaire FAFW3574KW

The FAFW3574KW is a front-loading washing machine available from Frigidaire. The FAFW3574KW typically costs between $588.10 - $739.00.

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on front-loading washing machine models like the FAFW3574KW.

Stainless-steel tub:
Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.

Auto temp. control:
This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.

Auto bleach dispenser:
Automatic Bleach dispenser releases the bleach at the proper point in the cycle, giving the detergent additives sufficient time to work.

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The moment I set up this washer, it didn't work properly. Kept going to "pause" during the wash, rinse, and spin cycles, which meant that I would have to CONSTANTLY check on it and keep pressing the "start" button over and over again. Was told to unplug the machine and plug it back in, that would fix it. It didn't. Repairman came out and replaced the door closure assembly (mind you, we have NO small children who would have been hanging on the door, nor have I been closing it hard whatsoever!) and said that would fix the problem. It didn't. It continues to go to "pause" and is a real pain to do a load of wash! We are currently waiting for a new "motherboard" for our BRAND NEW washer!!!

It also doesn't rinse out clothes completely. I have tried using less and less detergent (he) until I am now using approx. 1 Tbsp per load, and I STILL have to run the "extra rinse" cycle, PLUS run it through another cycle without ANY detergent (and AGAIN use the "extra rinse") for the clothes to MAYBE come out without soap in them. Sometimes, even after all of that (and this is usually 2-3 hours later for ONE load) there will still be soap bubbles on the glass inside the drum!

I have also had socks become wedged inside the door gasket, so when the cycle ends, I have a wet sock or two. And these are ladies average size socks and an older child's sock (child's size 3 shoe, NOT baby or toddler's socks!) The trough inside the gasket is too wide...poor design in my opinion.

Also, upon opening the door, I have to have a towel ready to catch the flow of water that streams out after each load. The design of the gasket for the door is awful as it causes a small puddle of water to collect between the gasket and the door. As you open the door, there will be a stream of water that will pour down the outside of the washer which you will have to catch or else it will run into either the pedestal or the floor or sometimes both.

This has been quite the experience for me, as I purchased this washer to save on water and electricity. So far, I think every load has used the SAME amount of water as my old top-load washer since I have to run it 2-3 times for it to rinse properly. This also, I'm sure, doesn't help with electricity either.

The ONLY thing I like about this washer is that it really spins the water out of the clothes during the final spin. They are barely damp when you put them into the dryer.

Overall, I am very disappointed with this purchase and will avoid this brand in the future.
