We have had to have this machine repaired multiple times in 2 years, and with 4 children, we have a lot of laundry and have spent countless hours at the laundromat due to it being broken and waiting 1-2 weeks to get it fixed under the extended warranty. We are so frustrated, we are thinking about just getting a new machine (never again a GE) because it is so unreliable even though we still have 2-3 years on the extended warranty. The load is always unbalanced, and towels require 1-2 extra spin cycles just to be ready for the dryer. We definitely regret this purchase and wish there was a dependable front loading washing machine on the market!

My model doesn't match this one, probably because of the age, but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. I have not had too much trouble with the machine. It stopped pumping water when I first got it. But the service tech came out and, of course, it worked fine. I may have had the discharge hose too far down the drain as this is where I put it because it was a slab house and I had no stationary tub. (Washer/Dryer in kitchen). I have moved since then and it survived the move (just friends helping) and is in the basement now. I used cinderblock cap blocks and made a platform for it, lots cheaper and sturdier than the stands. I did have a service call on it one week before the extended warranty ran out. It wasn't pumping water. The service tech found a rubber band in the pump from my clothes. No charge. Works fine. I would suggest, however to use the clean outs on the rubber gasket in the door and the drain access under the machine. It's not hard to do and you'll probably find some loose change to boot.<br />I have washed rubber backed reugs from my bathroom, but I am careful to try and balance the load.

Comment:
Washer cannot accommodate heavy items. It vibrates, comes unbalanced, and since the pipes underneath are made of plastic, it develops a leak. Repairing the leak is costly and you have to schedule time at home to meet GE twice, once to diagnose and later to have the repair done. Ours has broken twice in 3 years. Now we put a towel on the floor when we wash our clothes!
