In our lab tests, front-loading washing machine models like the WM3070H[W]A are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below. Washing performance: This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.) Energy efficiency: This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher. Water efficiency: This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.

Defective out of the box

Machine was delivered and installed but was defective. Appeared to be some type of problem in the control panel. Installer from the appliance store said this was very rare, but it's hard to believe such a defect made it out of the factory. Not thrilled with the brand so far, hoping the next new one will at least turn on. Thinking maybe I should have spent the extra money and bought the Whirlpool.

This washer is an excellent value with lots of features for the price. It is quiet, and since it is in the basement I can rarely hear it running. It is great for delicate clothes and the cold wash option helps to minimize any shrinking. The steam and sanitary options are great for bedding, towels, and homes with pets.<br /><br />Haven't had any trouble at all with the machine, and have been very pleased with the job it does.

After reading the first review I was hesitant to purchase this washer, but when we got to the store the unit and its matching dryer were on sale and I wanted the features this pair had to offer. Maybe the first reviewer should have read the instructions, I know that, even after 44 years of laundry experience, I had to. My washer and dryer are adjacent to my kitchen which is open to my living room. These are so quiet I no longer have to turn the TV up to hear it! All I can say is I truly love the options and both machines work exceptionally well.
