About - Maytag 2000 Series MHWE200X[W]

The Maytag 2000 Series MHWE200X[W] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, front-loading washing machine models like the 2000 Series MHWE200X[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.

Comment:
Within the first three months a major part had to be replaced (still under warrantee) after owning it for one year the Delicate cycle now shuts off at seven-minutes. Sometimes the machine shakes so badly we need to run in and hold the machine. (it is level) Whatever is on top of the machine when it spins shakes off and hits the floor, windows rattle and floors shake. I also thought Maytag made a good product. I don't know if those Maytag repairmen are still sitting idol. I bet not.

Comment:
I purchased this matching washer / dryer a week ago. So far so good. I did a significant amount of research going into this endeavor and wanted to make sure a got the biggest bang for my buck and more importantly something that was reliable. It is not noisy, It is a washer and dryer for Pete's sake. It cleans clothes well and the spin dry results are excellent therefore reducing the drying time. The whites cycle is 2 hours. No problems so far with the seal as far as water is concerned or clothes getting stuck in there. I have been keeping an eye on and noticed a very small amount of water being left in the seal. Again it is a washing machine and you cant defy the laws of gravity. The look is great with the granite finish which hiked up the price about $100. I purchased this set at [@] and got a pretty good deal. I made them match their internet price (oddly enough it was cheaper online) as well as honor their 10% promotion and a 10% Military discount as well.
