About - Maytag MHWE300VW

The MHWE300VW is a front-loading washing machine available from Maytag. The MHWE300VW typically costs between $679.00 - $899.97.

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on front-loading washing machine models like the MHWE300VW.

Energy star:
The federal Energy Star program, administered by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, identifies a wide range of home appliances that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models. These appliances can help you use less energy at home and save money on your utility bills.

Stainless-steel tub:
Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.

Auto temp. control:
This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.

My wife and I struggled to find a front loading washer and dryer. The more reviews we read the less confident we became.

We chose this washer based on the performance ratings given to the tested "Maytag MHWE900". Comparing the two machines, they are very similar. Our main criteria were vibration, wash performance, and gentleness...with cycle time also being a consideration.

We also purchased "Silent Feet" vibration isolation pads for both the washer and dryer. Google them, they seem to work.

So far, we've only washed about 10 loads of laundry. So, I can't speak towards the reliability of the machine. However, the sanitary cycle works well. One downside is the cycle time of the sanitary cycle is over 2 hours. However, we use the cycle less frequently.

The machines (washer and dryer) are very quiet. As far as vibration, we ensured the machines were level when installed and added the vibration isolation feet. Standing two feet away from the machine the vibration is not noticeable. You can see the machine moving slightly, but the vibration is not transferred to the floor.

Washing performance seems to be great. Clothes smell clean and feel softer than they did when using our old top loader.

We are very pleased with these units. Now, I'm crossing my fingers regarding reliability. We purchased the extended service warranty.

Another thing...I was really concerned about was the notion of clothes getting really tangled up and wrinkled. Glad to say..atleast through today, that this has not happened.

Hope this helps.
