I've owned both the Whirlpool Duet and LG high-end washers, and this Maytag is good competition at a lower price. It handles large loads well, unless they're mixed. Has a tendency to become unbalanced during spin cycle if you mix say, towels and undies. This doesn't shut the unit down, but it fumbles around on a slower cycle until something in the load shifts. Also, I use stain removers whenever there's a spot on my shirts; they don't come out otherwise. I don't blame the machine, but the HE - sometimes you just need more water and an agitator. If you stack it, I recommend using both the rubber slip strips and the bolt bracket - my contractor didn't install the latter and the dryer has a tendency to shift forward as the washer spins.
