We have owned this machine for 18 months. It was a replacement for a duet front loader that lasted only 5 years. Bad mistake buying another one. We have had service 6 times in the last 3 months. 1st round of parts took 5 weeks to come in. We have replaced 2 baskets and a tub along with several other parts. The machine bangs so loudly when it spins you think a 747 was landing in your front yard. We have an extended warranty on this machine but I am getting ready to throw in the towel and buy something else. We have always been pro whirlpool..all our appliances were whirlpool. One by one we are changing them out and will never purchase whirlpool again. Neither will friends or family.

We bought this washer as a replacement for another defective Whirlpool washer, which we bought two years ago. The first unit we failed to buy an extended warranty. We installed the new washer (WFW9250WW)on the previous model's pedestal, and the original (matching) dryer still works great. The first unit had the ball bearings burn out shortly after the manufacturer's warranty expired, and Whirlpool's recommened service company wanted over $500 to replace the ball bearings. So we unwisely bought a second Whirlpool washer from [@] instead of paying for the repair, and we bought [@] extended warranty on the new unit. In less than one year, the drum on the new washer broke. The service person that Lowes sent to my house said the drums are poorly welded on the Whirlpool Duets, which causes them to break. He said it is not the customer's fault that these are breaking. Now the new washer, which is less than a year old, is broken again. It frequently gives the error messages E1/F9 and SD, which other reviewers have complained about. Consumer Reports should not give positive reviews to Whirlpool Duet washer product lines just because they wash well for a few test rns. And Whirlpool should be recalling this product line. If you are brave enough to buy a Duet washer, make sure and buy an extened warranty and understand that it will not be worth the high cost to repair it when your warranties expire. Yes, they clean great when they work. But you will be dealing frequently with a broken down washer and having to miss a lot of work to let service people tell you how poorly they are built and how expensive they are to repair.

I've tried everything to remove the smell -- mostly noticed on our towels. Hot water, bleach, the tablets specifically designed for removing mold smell, vinegar, leaving door open, wiping it out.... Today, I am on CR website looking for a new wash machine. I've had it! We've owned the machine (Whirpool GHW9150PW4) for 3 years.
