Comment:
After searching high and low for a traditional washer, it was between this model and a Maytag model (MVWC200X). This one won out due to its larger drum. I wanted a washer that filled the drum up to the height I set it to for washing anything from pooped on baby clothes to sand filled beach towels...high efficiency washers just don't cut it for these uses.

The washer works pretty well, although I think even the longest cotton setting is a bit short for the dirtiest of clothes (muddy kids clothes). The biggest complaint I have is the standard rinse cycle...the washer drains the soapy water, then slowly spins the drum while pouring a small amount of water on the clothes before spinning the water out. The slow spin, pour water, spin water out process repeats several times. That's great to get the soap out, but it leaves dirt/residue on the center post and sides of the washer. Ah, but at least there's a solution: the second rinse option. Setting this option actually forces the washer to fill the drum up again, agitate, and drain like a traditional washer. It takes extra time, but it works well!

All in all, a good washer in today's market of planet-saving ultra-useless washers touting *huge* money savings of about $30 per year in total operating costs over traditional models such as this one. I'll gladly pay the $3 a month for clean clothes. Politicians can keep their low flush toilets and high efficiency washers, people need real appliances for real life!

So, the 3 stars are for a factory defect in my specific washer. On day 2, the fill valve started dripping water into the tub...not the end of the world, but an annoyance and indicator of poor quality control nontheless.
