In our lab tests, top-loading washing machine models like the Profile PTWN6250M[WT] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below. Washing performance: This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. At 5 1/2 years washer needed a new transmission. Then it wouldn't spin. Then the drum spun wildly. Very disappointed in this washer. Never really seemed to work well and had service come out to no avail around year 2. Going to get a new washer. Tired of trying to repair it.

Flat out doesn't clean clothes. Not enough water to get clothes clean. Don't waste your money as I will be scrapping mine and replacing it after having it less than one year. Typically love GE & GE Profile but this is a bust.

Comment:

Machine quit running 8 months after purchase. GE repaired by replacing seized motor. GE responded in 3 working days. The machine has no water level control and needs a second rinse to remove soap, which extends wash to over 1 hour. Not a machine for a family. This GE machine replaced a 25 year old Maytag, which wore out.This is a politically correct mistake. We will shop soon for a more rugged machine that washes quicker and provides for water level adjustment.
